Should a concern arise, a teacher should be contacted first before seeking help from the administration.  Conferences should be made in advance to allow for preparation and to insure the confidentiality of student information.  You may make an appointment through the school office or by contacting the teacher directly.  Please offer at least 3 different available times and days so that​​ a mutually convenient time can be reached.  Care of your child is of utmost concern to teachers, so they are often unable to contact parents immediately as they are in direct supervision of students.  Please allow 24 hours for teachers to respond to requests. 

If there are still concerns after meeting with the teacher, you may request a meeting with the principal.  The principal is available for consultation, by appointment only, after the matter has been discussed with the classroom teacher.

First Trimester Conferences​

First trimester conferences are scheduled in the middle of the first term to discuss a student's progress and areas of concern.  The hope is that students will be able to improve their performance before the end-of-​term report card.  Teachers will review current progress in classes, as well as discuss results from the STAR Assessments.  STAR testing is a standardized testing instrument that uses computer adaptive software to assess student progress and identify each student's individual skill and class progress.  The results are used for instructional planning to maximize student learning and adapt to student learning needs.

Parents schedule these conferences through the Sycamore Information System.  Approximately two weeks before these meetings, parents will be able to access the site and schedule conferences.  This access closes the week before.  The teachers will  schedule conference times for parents who did not make an appointment in the remaining available slots.  Please sign up early for the most convenient time.

Please be advised:  in the event that you are more than 5 minutes late to a conference, the teacher may at their discretion reschedule the conference. 

Second Trimester Conferences

Second trimester conferences are specifically designated to help students who may still be struggling in some areas.  Teachers schedule these conferences.  If a parent has a concern, they may request an available time ​
