St. Augustine School utilizes the religion standards set forth by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.  These standards are based upon the Catechism of the Catholic Church and include school-wide Living Our Faith standards and grade-level content standards.  The Living Our Faith Standards are consistent from TK – 8 and are intended to extend beyond religion class to all aspects of the school.  Students in pre-school learn and practice their faith at an age-appropriate level.

The grade-level content standards are organized by the four pillars with separate standards for TK – 8. Scripture is integrated into all four pillars.  It is important to recognize that our Catholic faith is a lived faith.  Therefore, the student's experiences of our faith is not limited by the grade level in which content is issued.

The curriculum components include:  the profession of faith; the celebration of the Christian mysteries/Sacraments of the Church; life in Christ (morality); and Christian prayer.

Religion practices occur daily through prayer and integration of religion into other subject disciplines.  Students actively participate in devotions that correspond with the liturgical year.  For example, students participate in Stations of the Cross during Lent.  Additionally, students at all grade levels study a spiral, age-appropriate Family Life curriculum.  Students examine the importance of family, respect for all human life at all levels, and stewardship for the world.
