Minimum Requirements for Personnel

Director
Option A Requirements:
- High school graduation or GED 
- 12
 accredited college units in Early Childhood Education (ECE), which must
 include courses in child growth and development; child, family, and 
community; and program/curriculum 
- A 3-unit course in administration and staff relations 
- 4 years of teaching experience* in a licensed child care center or comparable group child care program 
- Plus 15 hours of health and safety training (through the American Red Cross) 
Option B Requirements:
- AA degree with a major in Child Development (CD); must include a 3-unit course in administration and supervision of ECE Programs 
- At least 3 units or 60 training hours in early childhood education, child development, or school-age child courses 
- 2 years of experience* in ECE programs 
- Plus 15 hours of health and safety training (through the American Red Cross) 
Option C Requirements:
- BA degree in ECE or CD; must include a 3-unit course in administration and supervision of ECE Programs 
- At least 3 units or 60 training hours in early childhood education, child development, or school-age child courses 
- Plus 15 hours of health and safety training (through the American Red Cross) 
Option D Requirements:
*The definition of experience is 100 days at 3 hours per day under the supervision of a qualified preschool director.
2 Preschool Teacher
Requirements (Fully Qualified):
- 12
 core units of ECE including courses in 
basic child development; child, family, and community; and ECE 
curriculum 
- Plus 6 months of experience 
- Plus 15 hours of health and safety training (through the American Red Cross) 
Requirements (Not Fully Qualified):
3 Preschool Aide
Requirements:
- Is at least 18 years old, a high school graduate, or participating in an occupational program at high school 
- Shall work only under the direct supervision of a teacher 
- May
 escort or assist children in going to the bathroom and may supervise 
napping children without being under the direct supervision of a teacher
