5.6.11 Garnishments
If the Internal Revenue Service or other similar government agencies order garnishments
or similar proceedings, the location must deduct the amount required by
those legal documents. Note that California law prohibits an employer
from terminating an employee because of a threatened garnishment of an
employee's wages, nor may an employer terminate an employee because of a
garnishment for payment of one judgment. An employer is not prohibited from terminating an employee whose wages are garnished for
payment of more than one judgment. Check with the Human Resources Department before terminating an employee for excessive garnishments.
