As stated on the Megan's Law website for the State of California, any individual who is
guilty of sexual misconduct with a child under the age of 16 is
prohibited, as an employee or volunteer, from working directly with
minors and in an unaccompanied setting where he or she has more than
incidental contact or supervisory or disciplinary power over minors. Individuals in California may access the names and addresses of registered sex offenders on the Megan's Law website.
Any
person identified as a registered sex offender, including any parent/guardian with a child in school or
otherwise participating in archdiocesan activities, should contact the
person in charge at the location to determine what, if any,
participation the individual can have at the location and what
arrangements can be made so that the individual can participate in the
sacramental life of the Church. For further information, see Megan's Law and Implications for Parishes and Schools, where a sample letter agreement is available to delineate the registered sex offender's obligations.
