ARRIVAL AT SCHOOL
Students should arrive at school by 7:45 a.m. as the first bell rings at 7:50 a.m., and school begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. Students are not permitted on school grounds prior to 7:30 a.m.. Students arriving between 7:30 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. are to immediately proceed to the lunch table area, where supervision is provided by school staff members. Then, if the student chooses, he/she may proceed to one of the designated play areas to play with other students prior to the 7:50 a.m. bell. At 7:50 a.m., the “first" bell rings, signaling time to line-up for grades K-5 on the outdoor basketball courts. Grades 6-8 may proceed at that time to the Junior High lockers and classroom area only by way of the doors at the athletic field end of the upper building.

PARK & PICK-UP/CLASSROOM PICK-UP PROTOCOL
On rainy days, days with extremely high temperatures, or other rare occasions, SPBS will determine when students will NOT be picked up outside and dismissed to parents in the car line on “Columbia Driveway". On those occasions, the school will make an effort to notify parents prior to pick-up time.
For “Park & Pick-Up/Classroom Pick-Up" ALL drivers will need to park and come into school to pick-up their children from each individual student's classroom, including junior high students.Columbia Driveway will be open for parking and can be used as an exit. The small gate on Columbia Driveway leading to the steps onto the basketball courts will also be open for pedestrians.
PICK-UP OF STUDENTS BY TRANSPORTATION SERVICES
Parents/Guardians who wish to use an on-demand transportation service to transport their child(ren), are solely responsible for determining if the service allows its drivers to transport unaccompanied minors.
Since Saint Paschal Baylon School restricts the release of minors from its custody only to certain authorized individuals, parents/guardians must sign the Minor Pick-up Permission Form and Release (which can be found in the Forms section of this handbook), giving permission for their child(ren) to be picked up by a transportation service and absolving Saint Paschal Baylon School and the Archdiocese of any liability. These forms are kept on file in the school office.
Parents who have submitted a signed permission form must inform Saint Paschal Baylon School each day that the transportation service is picking up the child(ren). If possible, the parent must give the name of the driver who will be picking up the child(ren). At the time of release, the transportation service driver must enter the school office and identify himself/herself, showing a valid driver's license and proof if his/her relationship t the transportation service. The driver must sign the child(ren) out. Drivers must be instructed by the parent/guardian that the transportation service drivers may NOT pick up students in the SPBS car line.
BICYCLES, ROLLER BLADES & SKATEBOARDS, ETC.
Bicycles and “razor" scooters should be walked in or out of the schoolyard. They must be locked while parked in the bicycle rack area, which is outside Grade 2. Skateboards and roller blades are not allowed at school at any time. No shoes with wheels are allowed on campus. Students who wish to ride their bike or walk to and/or from school on their own must be in Grades 5-8, and have written permission from a parent on file in the office. Students in Grades 2-4 must have an older sibling in Grades 5-8 with them, along with written parent permission on file in the office. Permission must be renewed annually.
WALKING HOME/RIDING BIKES POLICY
Only students in Grades 5-8 are ever permitted to walk or ride their bike home from SPBS or to school in the morning. Students in Grades 2-4 must have an older sibling in Grades 5-8 with them. Any student who wishes to do so in those grades must have prior written permission from a parent/guardian renewed annually and maintained on file in the SPBS office. Students with written permission to walk home may not walk back to the school campus, once having departed for home. Written permission to walk home must be updated annually by the student's parents.
