PARKING LOT SAFETY GUIDELINES
The safety of each child depends on parents following the direction of the parking lot staff. A diagram showing the general drop-off/pick-up routes is included herein at the end of this Handbook. All students are to be picked-up promptly following dismissal (see “Extended Care" section). Please Note: As adherence to the SPBS parking lot rules ensures the safety of our students, no exceptions will be made. The Administration reserves the right to enforce "parking lot" rules at their discretion. Do not park directly in front of the school on school days during drop-off and dismissal times.
SPBS Parking Lot Rules:
- Please refrain from using cell phones while driving on the school campus.
- FOLLOW DIRECTIONS issued by the parking lot coordinator.
- DRIVE SLOWLY in the parking lot as too many cars are driven too fast too much of the time.
- STUDENTS MUST BE PICKED-UP OR DROPPED-OFF ONLY IN DEFINED AREAS. No children are allowed to be cutting-through the car-point lines.
- Upon arrival, if you do not park in the lot, you must PULL ALL THE WAY UP, as far as possible.
- USE THE CROSSWALK: During drop-off and pick-up times, you may only cross at the one crosswalk closest to the school, by the tall light pole in the parking lot, under direction of the crossing guard or SPBS adult staff parking lot supervisor.
- IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT READY AND WAITING WHEN YOUR ARRIVE after school to pick him/her up, you should pull around and park in the designated parking area.
- IF YOUR CHILD REQUIRES YOUR HELP GETTING IN OR OUT OF THE CAR before or after school, you should park in the parking area and then assist your child.
- For their safety, please make sure children enter and exit vehicles from the RIGHT SIDE/PASSENGER SIDE of the car.
- ALWAYS ALLOW ACCESS TO THE “HANDICAPPED" PARKING SPACES in front of the school.
- Be familiar with the School Facilities Diagram and “Car-Point" Direction Diagram.
- Remain alert and focused on the safety of all our students at all times.
