GRADUATION ACTIVITIES
There are long-standing traditions associated with Eighth Grade Graduation from SPBS. These traditions are considered to be privileges and, as such, participation depends on students meeting the prescribed criteria. The week before Graduation is set aside as a special time for the Eighth Grade class to celebrate, reflect and reinforce the values instilled in them during their years at SPBS. Graduation Week events usually include the following: Day of Reflection, Graduation Workshop, class trip to Magic Mountain, Graduation Dinner Dance, Baccalaureate Mass, Baccalaureate Breakfast, and the Graduation Ceremony. In order to fund these and other graduation-related expenses, Eighth Grade students and their families are expected to pay a $350.00 fee, per student, in addition to their required Profit Dollars. All Eighth Graders and their families are also expected to participate in specific 8th Grade Graduation fundraisers during the year, in order to raise additional needed funds beyond the Graduation Fee. Students participate in specific graduation activities at the discretion of the SPBS Administration.
MAY QUEEN CANDIDATE CRITERIA
Each spring, St. Paschal Baylon School honors our Blessed Mother through a special May Crowning Ceremony. As part of this tradition, one 8th-grade Catholic female student is selected by her peers to serve as the May Queen. To be considered, interested candidates must write a short reflective essay, following prompts given by the 8th-grade homeroom teacher. All 8th-grade girls will be invited to attend a special lunch session where candidates will present their essays. Following the presentations, the girls will vote to select the May Queen. The chosen May Queen will have her essay read aloud during the May Crowning Ceremony and published in the Bear Paw school newsletter.
