St. Jude the Apostle School provides students an environment filled with exceptional learning and character building opportunities. Our mission statement is based on the philosophy of St. Jude. With St. Jude as our guide and believing that the children are the future of the Catholic Church we state our MISSION as …
"Forming young people in the image of Jesus."
From Kindergarten through 8th Grade, the St. Jude School Community fosters family involvement and spirit, Christian Service, pride in self and community, and the desire to excel.
All grades receive daily religious education instruction based on standards developed by the L.A. Archdiocese. However, it is the lived experience of our faith that is primary. This involves the example set for each child by their own parents and families. There is also the modeling of the Catholic faith by the teachers and staff the children interact with on a daily basis.
Our faith is also lived out in the strong sense of community that is felt when you step onto the St. Jude the Apostle campus or any school event. Parents are actively involved in the school and strong supporters of all that happens at each grade level. Parents oversee the school's "Meet the Masters" art program, help with science labs, major class projects, serving the school's Choice Lunch program, Health Room and office support; they are Room Parents, Christian Service representatives, chaperones for class field trips and volunteer coaches for the school's sports programs.
The school firmly views the parents as the primary educator for their child. For a student to learn productively, there needs to be an atmosphere that ensures safety in all areas: physical, emotional and spiritual. The faculty and staff actively intervene when there are concerns in any of these areas for a student, and collaborate with the parents on solutions. There is an open-door policy evident with the faculty and a strong commitment to good communication supported by the administration. We each have a part in ensuring the total education of each child.
