Extended Absences: When a student is absent for an extended time (i.e. 20 days or more days during a trimester marking period), official grades may be withheld. Extended vacations are discouraged due to the negative effect it may have on a student's academic progress. Assignments for an extended absence are to be made up when the student returns to school. Students will be expected to read ahead and study upcoming material in texts. Teachers will not, nor shall they be expected to, provide homework, assignments and/or tests prior to the absence. Please use the Planned Absence Form, available on the school website under Parent Information and Forms, to let your child's homeroom teacher know in advance about any planned absence or trip. Thank you.
End of Trimester Absences: An unexcused absence at the end of the trimester grading period will affect your student's trimester grade since there will not be adequate time to give the missed work, grade and add into the current grading period. We do have three (3) trimesters in the overall grading system that are averaged at year-end.
