HONORS SYSTEM
The following awards are given each trimester to students achieving academic excellence in grades 4-8:
• Principal’s Award: Students with a grade point average of 3.75-4.0 Less than 10 tardies, and a “O” or higher average overall in work habits and in behavior (6th-8th grades). An "O" in both work habits and behavior is required for principal's award in 4th and 5th grade.
• Honor Roll: Students with a grade point average of 3.20-3.74. Less than 10 tardies, and a “G” or higher average overall in work habits and in behavior (6th-8th grades). A "G" in both work habits and behavior is required for honor roll in 4th and 5th grade.
Grades from the following subjects are used to determine grade point average: Religion, Math, English, Literature, Social Studies, Science, Spelling/Vocabulary, and Spanish for grades 7 and 8. A student who fails to complete or turn in more than 2 assignments in any class not factored into his or her G.P.A. (e.g., Technology, Spanish grades 4, 5, and 6, Art, Music, et. al) during one trimester will not be eligible for any academic awards.
A “D” in any subject disqualifies a student from Honor Roll. Any “NI” grades in behavior or in work habits disqualifies a student from Honor Roll or Principal’s List. Ten or more tardies in one trimester disqualifies a student from academic honors. Any form of suspension (in or out of school) disqualifies a student from academic honors for the trimester in which the suspension took place.
