​​Any student participating in academic dishonesty will receive an automatic 0 on the assignment without the option of making up the assignment. At the discretion of the teacher and administration, a referral or detention may be assigned. Repeated academic dishonesty may result in suspension or expulsion. ​

Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • copying homework from a classmate
  • sharing homework with a classmate
  • copying any sources (print or internet) without proper citations
  • using anyone else's (friend, parent, siblings, AI, etc.​) words on an assignment
  • ​cheating on a test (copying someone's answers, switching names on test papers)


ACCEPTABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE USE OF AI
If/when AI is permitted for use, the teacher will give students written guidelines specific to the activity/assignment. When no specific, written guidelines are given, students should not use AI for the assignment. 

Acceptable Use
  • ​Using AI powered tools with teacher permission and guidance ​for homework assistance, research, or writing support as a supplement to active engagement.
  • Using AI for ethical research and learning purposes aligned with academic and moral objectives.
  • Properly citing ​ALL AI-generated assistance in assignments​​​​​​​
Unacceptable Use
  • Using AI to complete assignments, exams, or academic work without proper attribution (academic dishonesty) OR explicit teacher permission
  • Generating content that contradicts Catholic teachings, including offensive language or inappropriate images
  • Using AI for cyberbullying, harassment, or any malicious activity that violates the school's code of conduct

​Consequences for Misuse

​Violations of acceptable use guidelines will be handled according to the school's discipline policy. Consequences may include redoing the assignment for a grade penalty, loss of technology access (including school-issued iPad), and other measures, depending on the severity of the violation. Students must understand the importance of academic integrity and ethical behavior when using AI.
