Student Dress/Uniforms

 Students at St. Jude the Apostle School are required to wear a uniform with items purchased through Dennis Uniform Company.  The following are the uniform dress standards.

Girls

  • James Plain Jumpers or Skirts (K-4th only) or Skirts*
  • Black, gray or khaki twill flat and pleated front pants (no holes)
  • Black, gray or khaki pleated front walking shorts
  • White, wine or gray short-sleeved shirts with the St. Jude the Apostle logo screen
  • White, wine or gray long-sleeved shirts with the St. Jude the Apostle logo screen
  • (Grades 6th, 7th, 8th) Black short-sleeved shirts with the St. Jude the Apostle logo screen NOT TO BE WORN WITH BLACK SHORTS/PANTS
  • Heather gray and wine cardigan with the St. Jude the Apostle logo screen
  • Oxford gray crew neck sweatshirt with the St. Jude the Apostle logo screen
  • Gray or burgundy quarter-zip sweatshirt with the St. Jude the Apostle logo screen
  • Gray or maroon hooded sweatshirt with the St. Jude the Apostle logo screen
  • Black hooded microfiber jacket with the St. Jude the Apostle logo screen NOT TO BE WORN WITH BLACK SHORTS/PANTSMatching solid socks (black, gray or white) with no logos; solid white or natural nylon/tights under skirts
  • Leggings (black, gray or white): solid to the ankle, no patterns, no holes, no logos, and no lace. No yoga pantsHair accessories must appropriately match the school uniform in color and style
  • Jewelry should be limited to one (1) necklace, one (1) bracelet, one (1) ring and one (1) earring on each ear. Watches are okay**
  • Girls may wear small, non-dangling/non-fancy gold or silver earrings (no more than one (1) earring per earlobe)**
  • Make-up and colored nail polish may not be worn to school​
  • Shoes: SOLID black, gray or white tennis shoes must be worn; shoes must also have lace or Velcro closure (no slip-on shoes). There may be accent colors on the shoes but only in white, gray or black
  • Shoes: No patterns, checkered, glitter or extreme markings. By definition, uniform shoes should be "boring" (not stand out). If any questions, please send a picture to Mrs. Schulte, Miss Wilson or Miss Vitelli for approval

*Length of skirts, jumpers and shorts must not be higher than two (2) inches above the knee.

**Accessories should be kept to a minimum for safety. If the item being worn is determined to be a distraction, staff will ask the student to remove that item and take home.

The administration reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of uniform standards, proper compliance, and to designate casual dress days during the school year.

Boys

  • Black, gray or khaki pants (worn at the waist – no holes)

  • Boys may not wear earrings. Boys may not wear make-up or nail polish
  • Boys DO NOT need to wear belts…belts only needed if pants/shorts are too loose
  • Shoes: SOLID black, gray or white tennis shoes must be worn; shoes must also have lace or Velcro closure (no slip-on shoes). There may be accent colors on the shoes but only in white, gray or black

P.E. Uniforms

Complete P.E. Uniforms must be worn during all P.E. classes (Grades 5-8)

  • Regulation shirts and shorts are available for purchase through the school office
  • Tennis shoes of white, black or gray
  • Optional – Dennis black/grey logo sweat pants

Non-Uniform Days

  • All students must wear tennis shoes for playground safety (can be different colors and styles on non-uniform days
  • Jeans okay (no holes and not torn)
  • No T-shirts or sweatshirts with inappropriate graphics
  • T-shirts preferred. No tank tops. Shirts must cover student's stomach when arms are raised
  • No leggings used as pants. No yoga pants
  • Skirts must be no more than two (2) inches above the knee
  • Shorts must be at least "fingertip length"
  • Think modestly

Uniform Reminders

  • Girls and boys grades 6th - 8th may not wear black shirts with black shorts/pants
  • Formal wear for Mass is only required when a student's class hosts a Mass.  Formal wear is long pants for boys and skirts for girls
  • Girls hair accessories must appropriately match the school uniform in color and style
  • Only uniform sweaters or uniform sweatshirts may be worn on campus.  This does include sweatshirts for co-curricular activities such as Decathlon, Jaguar Robotics, CIMI and OutDoor Ed
  • Uniform clothing is expected to be clean and neat
  • Shirts DO NOT need to be tucked in. Shirts should not be too long or baggy if untucked
  • Make-up and colored nail polish may not be worn to school
  • Hair must be in your natural color and appropriate style and length conducive to the working environment of a school (girls should never have hair in their face – boys hair length is not to be lower than the top part of the shirt collar and never cover the ears)
  • On casual dress days clothes must be modest, clean and have no tears and/or ragged edges
  • Tennis shoes are the required shoe for school safety (no open-toed, dress shoes or boots allowed)

Uniform Reminders

K-2nd                     A first infraction will result in a notice home via email or note. A second infraction (of the same uniform violation) will result in a call home. A parent/guardian will need to bring a change of clothes/shoes immediately.

3rd-4th                     At the first infraction, there will be a verbal warning to the student. Upon the second infraction (of the same uniform violation), the student will receive a color change. Additional infractions will result in additional color changes.​

5th-8th                     5th through 8th Graders are expected to know and follow the uniform dress code. At the first infraction, the student will receive a point.
