Inclusion Process / STEP
Archdiocesan schools do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, disability, sex, or national and/or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies and practices, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs. However, certain schools in the archdiocese are operated as single gender.
While Incarnation does not discriminate against students with special needs, a full range of services may not always be available to them. Decisions concerning the admission and continued enrollment of a student in the school are based upon the student’s emotional, academic, and physical abilities and the resources available to the school in meeting the student’s needs.
Parents/guardians may request a minor adjustment for students with a disability and of the appropriate procedure to address any complaints of disability discrimination.
The Support Team Education Plan (STEP) is a collaborative process that brings together students, parents/students, teachers, and administrators to seek positive solutions based on a student's strengths and special needs to help that student benefit from his or her education and to facilitate participation in the Catholic school curriculum.
See the Support Team Education Plan (STEP) flowchart.
The school appoints Support Team Education Plan administrator, who is the principal or principal's designee or the STEP coordinator ("administrator").
If you have a child who is struggling academically or is disabled, contact the STEP Coordinator. For specific information and guidance see chapter 14 of the ADLA Administrative Handbook: http://handbook.la-archdiocese.org/chapter-14
