Communication procedures:

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Should problems, concerns, or situations arise regarding a child, the following contact procedures should be followed:

1. Parent with teacher/Teacher with parent

2. Parent/Teacher with Administrator

3. Parent/Teacher with the Archdiocese

Open communication with all parties at school is a valued approach to ensure that each student is set up for success, both academically and socially. Email communication is a useful tool in assisting with this open communication, but oftentimes face to face conferencing is the best practice. Teachers are available by appointment on school days between 7:30-7:45am and 3:15-3:30 pm or at a specific time set up by the teacher.

Formal Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled during the first trimester of the school year. Although there is only one set of designated parent-teacher conferences, parents are encouraged to continue open communication with the teachers throughout the year. Students in grades fourth-eighth will attend these Formal Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Parent Conduct

Every parent, student, and employee of Our Lady of Lourdes has a moral and ethical obligation to build up the school community and therefore speak in an appropriate manner both on and off campus. Posting inappropriate comments about the school, its personnel or students on the web or via e-mail does not constitute following the appropriate chain of communication. Negative and unhealthy communication about Our Lady of Lourdes School, the employees, and/or the students by a parent or guardian may result in the Principal asking the parents to withdraw their child from Our Lady of Lourdes School.

Parent/Principal Conferences

Please call the school office any school day after 9 am to make an appointment to speak with the Principal.

Parent News Bulletin

Every Friday, the office will email a Parent News Bulletin via Gradelink e-mail. Important information from the Principal, the office, Parent/Teacher Organization, etc. is contained in the Parent News Bulletin. Parents are expected to access the website or email address for this weekly bulletin.

Gradelink

Our Lady of Lourdes School has implemented an Instant Parent Contact system with the company Gradelink for direct communication with parents. This

contact system will be used on occasion to announce an emergency school closure, an unexpected schedule change, upcoming important events, and any

communication deemed necessary by the administration. Parents will be contacted by phone, e-mail and/or text messaging by the Principal via the

numbers and electronic addresses provided to the school. Our goal is to contact ALL school families within a very brief period of time with this

automated contact system.
