13.1.2 - High School Admission Guidelines
<p><span style="font-weight:700;">High School Admission Guidelines</span></p><p><span style="font-weight:700;"></span>The Department of Catholic Schools has established <a href="/Handbook%20Resources/High%20School%20Admissions%20Standards%20and%20Practices.pdf">ethical and professional standards </a>for the admissions process and set an admissions timeline that applies to all archdiocesan and parish high schools. Independent Catholic high schools (i.e. private schools) are encouraged to abide by the same standards and timeline.<br></p><p>Generally, high school admissions involve an admissions department or committee consisting of designated members of the administrative staff and faculty members. <br></p><p>In addition to standardized test scores, grades, and recommendations from the prior school, the admissions process and its policies may consider the following factors:<br></p><ul><li><p>Giving preference to active members of the parish (for parish high schools). <br></p></li><li><p>In cases where the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of students a school can enroll, giving qualified Catholic students precedence over qualified non-Catholic students.</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Making reasonable efforts to assist students with financial need. </p></li><li><p>Not admitting students whose families owe money to another school<br></p></li><li><p>Ensuring that students will be under 20 years of age at graduation.<br></p></li><li><p>For international students, see "Admissions" under <a href="/_layouts/15/FIXUPREDIRECT.ASPX?WebId=7c52c6b6-eea1-4fc3-ac3a-90f0c442a28e&TermSetId=8b66c3a8-bdfa-4bea-9c29-07c09bf9129e&TermId=698f6098-2942-4acd-a378-a9f5513eea71" target="_blank">International Students in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles</a>. </p></li></ul>7-7-2021, 7-24-2024<br> <br><br>
