13.4.2 - Withholding of Records13.4.2 - Withholding of Records<p> <span style="font-weight:bold;">​​​Withholding of Records</span>​​<br><br>​Under California law, a private school cannot refuse to provide student records <em><strong>to a requesting elementary school or high school </strong></em>because of any outstanding charges, including tuition or fees that the student or parents/guardians owe.<br><br>​However, in accordance with school policy, the school may withhold <em><strong>from parents/guardians</strong></em> the grades, diploma, or transcripts of a student pending the payment of certain amounts for damaged property, the return of loaned property, or unpaid tuition or fees.​</p><p>7-14-20​21, 8-20-2024<br></p>
