REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION
Sports Program
Saint Elizabeth School participates in the Catholic Youth Organization (C.Y.O.).CYO is a competitive sports program involving local Catholic schools. The sports program is available to students in grades 5-8. Cross Country as well as Track & Field is the exception which includes the 3rd and 4th grade students. The “Varsity” Team consists of students in the 7th and 8th grades. The “B” Team consists of 5th and 6th grade players. In the event that there is only one team, such as boys’ soccer or girls’ softball, students in grades 5-8 may participate. Girls compete in cross country, volleyball, basketball, softball, football (co-ed), soccer, and track. Boys compete in cross country, football (co-ed), basketball, volleyball, soccer, and track.
Athletes may begin practice each season as long as the fee, athletic forms and uniform deposit have been submitted. Uniforms are school property and students are expected to launder and care for jerseys as directed, the deposit will not be returned if the uniform is not returned at the end of the season or if it is damaged. Uniforms must be clean and tidy for all games. Athletes that are absent all day from school may not participate in any after school sports that day.
Prior to the beginning of every sport, a Code of Ethics form must be completed for every student interested in participating. The purpose is to ensure that student athletes are meeting the academic and behavioral requirements of the school. Please refer to the CYO website at Cyola.org for additional information.
Students will be assessed a fee per sport. This fee is not refundable if the student becomes ineligible due to grades, behavior or unsportsmanlike conduct. Parents are expected to volunteer to support the team and the sports program. Parents of all Athletes are required to attend a Sports Information Meeting scheduled on Back to School Night of each year. Please refer to the school calendar.
Game and Practice Transportation
Parents of team members must be willing to share the driving responsibilities:
The office requires a copy of a current driver license, proof of insurance, Virtus training and fingerprinted through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles;
Permission slips and transportation forms for team members are required before transporting any student;
All students must use seat belts;
No student will be allowed to ride in the back of an open bed pick-up truck;
Parents who transport students are responsible for driving them back to school
Drivers must go to and from event only and not stop for food, gas etc.;
Faculty, staff, and the principal employed by Saint Elizabeth MAY NOT transport athletes to and from the game, unless they are functioning in a parent capacity. (Not during regularly scheduled work hours)
