Consultative School Board

St. Brendan School’s Consultative Board serves in an advisory capacity to the principal and the pastor. Its role is to provide a strategic and broad-based perspective on business, financial, legal, and other issues germane to the school’s long-term health and sustainability. Unlike a traditional Board of Directors, St. Brendan School’s Consultative Board has no authority to set school policies, nor does it vote; the Board provides only feedback to the principal and the pastor. Members are chosen by and serve at the pleasure of the principal and the pastor based on their own criteria. The Board meets every other month or on an as-needed basis.

Areas of Responsibilities:
  • In view of the responsibilities imposed by Canon Law upon the pastor and the Ordinary (Archbishop) of the Archdiocese, which cannot be delegated, certain areas of the administration of the school are reserved to the pastor and Ordinary, particularly in the areas of religious curriculum and financial accountability.
  • Subject to the Archdiocesan Department of Education, the pastor shall have the responsibility for all budgetary decisions affecting the school, including tuition charges and faculty salaries, and may not delegate these decisions.
  • With the approval of the pastor and the Archdiocesan Department of Education, the principal of the school shall have the responsibility for selection and, if required, the termination of faculty members, and may not delegate this responsibility.
