​​St. Brendan School requires the following standards of all students. Students are expected to:

  • Respect and obey teachers, faculty and parent co-workers.
  • Complete the classroom and homework assignments. Following an absence, contact the teacher(s) and make up the work promptly.
  • Remain after school only to participate in school or teacher-sponsored activities.
  • Cell phones may not be used between 7:30 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. on regular school days, and 7:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. on early dismissal days. Phones are kept by the teachers during those times.
  • Electronic devices to be used only in the classroom, supervised by a teacher. No electronic devices may be used in the school yard before or during school without the supervision of a teacher, or in the After-School program.

Any faculty member may give a Disciplinary Action Form. A Disciplinary Action Form will be given for:

  • Consistent disobedience (including out-of-uniform, gum-chewing, wearing make-up, colored nail polish, jewelry, etc.)
  • Disruptive behavior in the classroom
  • Violation of the Student Technology Contract
  • Defiance/Disrespect
  • Profanity*
  • Stealing/Cheating
  • Vandalism
  • Actions physically or emotionally harmful to others
  • Throwing food at any time

*Crude, insulting and/or vulgar language will not be tolerated and may be punishable by suspension or expulsion from school.

The principal receives a copy of each Disciplinary Action Form given. Disciplinary Action Forms are not cumulative beyond one school year. After receiving three Disciplinary Action Forms, the student, his/her parents and the teacher will meet with the principal.

Students may be suspended or expelled from school for any of the following reasons:

  • Three Disciplinary Action Forms
  • Actions gravely harmful to the moral or spiritual welfare of other students
  • Violation of the Student Technology Contract
  • Habitual profanity or vulgarity
  • Assault, battery, or any threat of force or violence directed toward any school personnel or student - (Ed. Code 10602)
  • Open, persistent defiance of the authority of the staff
  • Continued, willful disobedience
  • Possession, use of, or sale of narcotics or alcohol- (Ed. Code 10603)
  • Smoking, vaping or having tobacco
  • Stealing, cheating, dishonesty, lying
  • Cutting, defacing or vandalizing, in any way, property belonging to the school or another student
  • Habitual truancy

The following procedure will be used in cases of suspension or expulsion:

  • A telephone call to the parent or guardian, who must cooperate by picking up the student that day. This will be followed by a conference with the parent(s)/guardian(s), student, teacher(s), the principal and the pastor.
