Probation: Academic/Effort
A student may be placed on Academic/Effort Probation if he/she is having difficulties in this area. At the end of each month, a probation note will be sent home to the parents with an evaluation of the student’s overall performance. If a student receives three “Good” probation notes in the semester (with no unsatisfactory reports), he/she may be taken off probation. If a student does not show progress in academics/effort, the following consequences are possible (not necessarily in this order):
1) Student not eligible for extra-curricular activities
2) Student placed on contract or placed on STEP program
Promotion/Retention
All students are expected to achieve at least grade level proficiency in order to be promoted to the next grade, with teacher evaluation, standardized tests, and teacher administered test scores to form the basis of the decision.
