UNIFORMS and GROOMING STANDARDS

Please see below for uniform and grooming guidelines:

 UNIFORMS - General Information

  • Any attire that does not have the school logo is not allowed to be worn.
  • Students are expected to attend school well groomed and in complete uniform.  Please remember a school uniform is not meant to be accessorized.
  • Students may wear a simple chain or Christian symbol and a watch. 
  • Bracelets are ok within reason, but must not be a distraction.
  • NO other jewelry is allowed including pins, rings. 
  • Students may wear activity trackers. Privileges will be lost if it is used incorrectly or if it is connected to the internet.
      REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL GRADES
  • Uniforms are to fit properly, be kept clean and be neatly pressed.  Oversized and baggy styles are not permitted.
  • Shirts must be kept tucked in. Rolled is not tucked in.
  • Shorts and pants must be worn at the waist. 
  • Shorts will not be longer than mid-knee length. 
  • Skirts must be no more than 2 inches above the knee when standing.
  • A belt, khaki or black, must be worn if pants or shorts have belt loops and ALWAYS with their formal uniform.  (Kindergarten – No belts required and if a belt is worn they must know how to fasten and unfasten it.)
  • Shoes and Socks:
    • Shoes
      • Black, white or black and white shoes, ONLY.  NO ACCENT COLORS OR PATTERNS.  
      • No boots, sandals, open-toed or slip-on shoes will be allowed. 
      • Athletic shoes must be securely tied, in the traditional fashion, at all times.  Shoelaces must be black or white.
    • Socks
      • Boys must black or white socks (high knee, crew, or no show socks are acceptable)
      • Girls must wear black or white socks (high knee, crew, or no show socks are acceptable)
  • Green polo shirt with St. Cyprian logo (TK - 8th )
    • May be worn with skirts
  • Khaki walking shorts or slacks and green polo (TK-8)
  • Green sweater, jacket or sweatshirt with school logo (TK-8) (including formal mass days)
  • GIRLS: Round collar white blouse, green plaid jumper (TK-4)
    
PE UNIFORMS
  • Gray PE shirt with school logo and green mesh shorts with school logo.
  • All students are required to wear the approved PE uniform on their assigned day.  Shirts are to fit properly and be tucked in when students are not at play.  Uniforms are to be purchased through the school office.
  • Appropriate shoes must be worn for PE.  (It is recognized that athletic shoes are not solid colors, but have brand logos and designs.  They are still required to follow the color guidelines as stated above.)
  • Optional sweat suits with the school logo may also be purchased and worn for PE days.

GIRLS' FORMAL UNIFORMS:
  • Green or White polo shirt with St. Cyprian logo with plaid skirt (5th -8th)
  • Round collar white blouse, green plaid jumper (TK-4)
  • Green sweater, sweatshirt or jacket with school logo (TK-8); optional
  • White or black crew socks, no show, knee socks, or tights
  • Skirts must no more than 2 inches above the knee when standing.
  • Shirts must be kept tucked in. Rolled is not tucked.

BOYS' FORMAL UNIFORMS:
  • Green polo shirt with St. Cyprian logo  (ALL GRADES)
  • Khaki pants with khaki or black belt
  • Green sweater, sweatshirt or jacket (TK-8th); optional
  • White or black socks (high knee, tights, crew, no show acceptable)
  • Shirts must be kept tucked in. Rolled is not tucked.

FREE DRESS ATTIRE
Dress for school should reflect one's self respect, pride and good judgment.  We believe that a student's appearance affects attitudes and behavior.  T-shirt logos must be school and age appropriate (NO weapons / violence / drugs / alcohol / etc.) The following rules apply:

     GIRLS:
  • Skirts & blouses / dresses – must be uniform length, no low necklines, and no bare midriffs.
  • Shirts – no halters, no spaghetti strap tank tops (thick straps/sleeves are okay), no sheer clothing.
  • Walking shorts, slacks, cords, denim jeans – no holes (no skin may show, patches are okay
  • Leggings and jeggings are allowed on free dress days.
  • Minimum shorts length must come to the tip of the fingers when arms are held straight down at sides.
  • Crew socks, knee socks, no show, ankle socks, or tights must be worn; shoes must be appropriate for PE, no open-toed shoes. 
  • Slip on tennis shoes are allowed only for free dress days, unless it is a scheduled PE day. NO SANDALS, SLIPPERS, OR CROCS unless specifically noted for a special event (ie Pajama Day)

     BOYS:
  • Shirts – must be Catholic School appropriate
  • Walking shorts, slacks, cords, denim jeans – no holes, no baggy pants.
  • Shorts must be worn at the waist and be no longer than mid-knee length.
  • Crew, ankle socks, high knee, or no show socks that are appropriate shoes for PE, no open-toed shoes. 
  • Slip on tennis shoes are okay on free dress days only, unless it is a scheduled PE day. NO SANDALS, SLIPPERS, OR CROCS unless specifically noted for a special event (ie Pajama Day)
COLD WEATHER ATTIRE
  • Turtlenecks (plain – no logos – black or white) may be worn under uniform shirts or blouses in cold weather.
  • Girls may wear black or white leggings / tights with socks and shoes in cold weather. 
  • Heavy jackets may be worn to and from school and at recess in cold weather.  No flannel shirts are allowed.  Only the uniform sweater, jacket or sweatshirt will be allowed in class.
  • A plain rain jacket or extra hooded sweatshirt may be worn. 
  • NO rain boots.

GROOMING STANDARDS

     GIRLS
  • Hair cannot be dyed, colored, bleached or highlighted (ie: "tips", ombre"). It must be a student's natural color.
  • Hairstyles are to be conservative, clean and neatly styled.
  • Hair must not cover face, or hang in eyes. It cannot obstruct vision at any time. IF growing out bangs, keep them held back with a headband or clips.
  • Headbands must be brown, black, white or uniform plaid. NO flowers, large bows, bandanas or decorative hair accessories are allowed as they become toys and distractions during the day. Simple neutral colored hair clips are allowed.
  • Girls may wear one pair of stud earrings in the lob of the ear or one pair of small hoops in the lob of the ear (tight to the ear) .  Double piercings or any other piercings are not allowed.
  • Make-up may not be worn at any time.
  • Nail polish is acceptable. NO acrylics are to be worn at school.  (acrylics applied during the summer/holiday breaks must be removed within one week of returning to school)

     BOYS
  • Hairstyles are to be conservative, clean and neatly styled.
    • Sides of head cannot be shaved to the skin or trimmed by more than 1.5mm clipper.
    • Hair on top of the head cannot exceed more than three inches.
    • Hair must not cover face, or hang in eyes.  It cannot obstruct vision at any time.
    • No taper/temple/high/mid/afro fades.
    • No mohawks, dreds/dredlocks, undercuts, pomps, quiffs, comb overs or hard cuts.
    • Designs cannot be shaved into the sides or on the back of the head.
    • Hair cannot be dyed, colored, bleached or highlighted.
    • Hair must be trimmed so as to not touch the ears or collar of the shirt.
  • Boys are not permitted to wear earrings.
  • No makeup or nail polish may be worn.

    The administration reserves the right to make final decisions regarding appropriate dress and appearance.
