Saint Anastasia Catholic School recognizes the importance of communication and collaboration, as well as the development of technology skills and utilizes iPads/Chromebooks for students to be productive in the classroom. However, to keep the focus on our students developing academically as well as acquiring the necessary skills for face-to-face interaction with peers and adults, we feel it’s imperative to reduce the unnecessary distractions that our elementary school-aged children are facing.
All phones/devices are brought on campus at one’s own risk.
Electronic devices such as cell phones/gaming devices and or AppleWatches (or other smart watches) are to be turned off during the school day and must be turned into the homeroom teacher who will place the device in a pouch.
The school is not responsible for lost or stolen devices.
Cell phones may be turned on after school but must still remain all the way inside the backpack~ not in clothing pockets or on the person. Cell phones may only be used after school with the permission of and in the presence of an adult staff member.
Phone calls, texting, and videotaping of oneself or others is strictly prohibited at any time on campus which includes anywhere in the buildings, common areas, restrooms, and school yard.
If a student needs to contact a parent during the school day for an emergency, he/she must request permission from the teacher and go to the main office to make the call.
All student’s use of technology resources must comply with school policies and the law. During class time, computers and other school technology resources are to be used for academic, class-related purposes with teacher permission only. The school also reserves the right to specify how its technology resources are to be used at other times.
Use of cellphones, without teacher permission, for any academic purpose is a violation of the handbook. Cell phones must be turned off, placed in the designated cell phone area, and not used when students are in the classroom. Photographing or recording without express permission from any member of the faculty or staff is strictly prohibited and will result in disciplinary action.
If this policy is violated, the following will take place:
1st Offense: Phone to Administration, Student pick up device from Administration, Written Warning given.
2nd Offense: Parent must pick up device from Administration, Detention given.
3rd Offense: Student and parent meeting with Administration, in school suspension, device dropped off in the office daily (signed in and signed out)
