CONDUCT AND CITIZENSHIP GRADES

Students in Grades 6-8 are graded on an “O” (Outstanding), “G” (Good), “S” (Satisfactory), and “NI” (Needs Improvement) scale.

JUNIOR HIGH BEHAVIOR/WORK HABITS GUIDELINES

Behavior
A grade of “O” (Outstanding) in behavior indicates that a student consistently:

  • ●  Treats others (students, faculty, staff) with kindness and respect

  • ●  Abides by school rules/policies and has not received any Warnings – Stop & Think Sheets

  • ●  Serves as a role model for the student body

A grade of “G” (Good) in behavior indicates that a student often:

  • ●  Treats others (students, faculty, staff) with kindness and respect

  • ●  Abides by school rules/policies

  • ●  Has received no detentions

A grade of “S” (Satisfactory) in behavior indicates that a student sometimes:

  • ●  Treats others (students, faculty, staff) with kindness and respect

  • ●  Abides by school rules/policies

  • ●  Has received no more than 1 detention

A grade of “NI” (Needs Improvement) in behavior indicates that a student rarely:

  • ●  Treats others (students, faculty, staff) with kindness and respect

  • ●  Abides by school rules/policies

  • ●  Has received 2 or more detentions and/or a suspension

  • ●  Immediate improvement expected in behavior choices in the classroom and/or on the playground

Work Habits
A grade of “O” (Outstanding) in work habits indicates that a student consistently:

  • ●  Puts forth their best effort in all subject areas/classes

  • ●  Meaningfully contributes to class discussions and participates in class activities

  • ●  Prepares for class each day

  • ●  No late/missing assignments

A grade of “G” (Good) in work habits indicates that a student often:

  • ●  Puts forth their best effort in all subject areas/classes

  • ●  Appropriately contributes to class discussions and participates in class activities

  • ●  Prepares for class each day

  • ●  No more than 1 late/missing assignment

A grade of “S” (Satisfactory) in work habits indicates that a student sometimes:

  • ●  Puts forth their best effort in all subject areas/classes

  • ●  Contributes to class discussions and participates in class activities

  • ●  Prepares for class each day

  • ●  2 or more late/missing assignments

A grade of “NI” (Needs Improvement) in work habits indicates that a student rarely:

  • ●  Puts forth their best effort in all subject areas/classes

  • ●  Contributes to class discussions and participates in class activities

  • ●  Prepares for class each day.

  • ●  Immediate improvement expected in study habits, preparedness for class, classroom participation, etc.

Exceptions to these guidelines may be made based upon the nature and severity of the issue. August 2021-2022
