​TESTING AND ASSESSMENT  


Standardized Testing

St. Catherine of Siena School participates in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles STAR testing program three (3) times per year.  

  • STAR Early Literacy is taken by students in grades TK-3. Students that achieve a score of 850 during a testing window will not be required to take it in the following window.

  • STAR Math is taken by all students in grades 2-8. Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade may take this test if they have at least 100 sight words.

  • STAR Reading is taken by all students in grades 2-8. Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade may take this test if they have at least 100 sight words.


St. Catherine of Siena School participates in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles ACRE testing program once each year.  

  • ACRE Testing (Religion) is administered to students in grades 5 and 8 in January.  ​




Classroom Assessments
Teachers will use a variety of formative and summative assessments throughout the school year. The information gathered from these assessments is used to inform lesson planning and future changes to the curriculum. Classroom assessments ​can include Exit slips, quizzes, tests and projects. The frequency and type of assessments utilized is up to the discretion of each classroom teacher.
