GRADE-LEVEL UNIFORM ACADEMIC GRADING POLICY

Primary Level: Grades 1 – 2

  • Grades are not weighted
  • Grades include both formative and summative assignments
  • Homework serves as practice and preparation, but is not included in the grade 
  • Missed homework is reflected on the report card under “Work Habits”

Primary Level: Grade 3

  • Grades are not weighted
  • Grades include both formative and summative assignments
  • Homework serves as practice and preparation, but is not included in the grade
  • Missed homework is reflected on the report card under “Work Habits”
  • The teacher uses his/her discretion with “missed homework” consequences

Intermediate Level: Grades 4 – 6

  • Grades are weighted as follows:
    • 40% for formative assessments such as homework, classwork, daily quizzes, and class participation 
    • ​60% for summative assessments such as major projects and tests
  • Missed homework: If a student at the intermediate level fails to turn in a homework assignment, the student is given an “I” for Incomplete. At the teacher’s discretion, the assignment can be made up and given no higher than 70% (C-) and no lower than a 50% (F). If the teacher does not allow the student to turn the assignment in or the student fails to complete the assignment within the given timeframe, the teacher will replace the “I” for 50% (F).

Junior High Level: Grades 7 – 8

  • ​Grades are weighted as follows:
    • ​40% for formative assessments such as homework, classwork, daily quizzes, and class participation
    • 60% for summative assessments such as major projects and tests
    • Missed homework: If a student at the Junior High level fails to turn in a homework assignment, the student is given an “I” for Incomplete.
