Incoming Freshmen
Acceptance to SJHS is determined by evaluation of the following:
  • 6th, 7th and 8th grade transcripts that include attendance, effort and conduct records
  • 6th, 7th, and 8th grade standardized test scores;
  • Los Angeles Archdiocese Common Evaluation Form completed and signed by the 8th grade teacher or principal;
  • High School Placement Test (HSPT) results; and
  • Interview with applicant and parents/guardians.
The incoming freshman application process and schedule is included on the website for the next incoming Freshman class:  Class of 2027

In summary, Parents/Guardians should perform the following steps:
  • Step 1. Create an account on the SJHS Parent Portal by providing an eMail address and creating a password. (Note that returning parents/guardians can use their existing account)
  • Step 2: On the Parent Portal, fill out and submit the application and pay the application fee.
  • Step 3. On the Parent Portal, upload the following documents for your daughter:
    • 6th, 7th and 8th grade transcripts
    • 6th, 7th, and 8th grade standardized test score,
    • Los Angeles Archdiocese Common Evaluation Form to your daughter's teacher or principal (Only one is required); owload from the Parent Portal
  • Step 4: Applicant takes the High School Placement Test (HSPT) scheduled in January
  • Step 5: Applicant and parents attend an interview with an SJHS administrator or teacher; applicant should bring some school work to share at the interview
  • Step 6: Acceptance notices are sent in the mail

Incoming Freshman Recognition
Saint Joseph High School recognizes incoming freshmen who have excelled academically and participated in Christian Service projects during their middle school years. Scholarships and awards are presented by SJHS Administrators at 8th grade graduations.

Transfer Students
Placement of students transferring to SJHS is considered at the beginning of each fall and spring semester if space is available. Parents/Guardians of prospective transfer students should fill out the application as described for freshman applicants.

For transfer students, the following is required:
  • Official high school transcript
  • Recommendation letter from a teacher, academic advisor, or administrator from current high school
  • Interview with the Admissions Office
