The transfer of gifts from a probate, trust, annuity, or insurance policy to the archdiocese or a parish or school involves legal transfer of title. The Office of the Legal Counsel will coordinate the signings of the legal documents to insure proper transfer. Generally this will require signatures from the archbishop; his attorney-in-fact, the moderator of the curia/vicar general; or the appropriate officer of the other corporation, such as Catholic Charities of Los Angeles Inc. It is important to note that generally the pastor's or principal's signature will not be legally sufficient.
