When the faithful remember a parish or school in their wills and living trusts, the bequest language occasionally requests that Masses be said for the deceased or the family of the deceased. The parish may contact the moderator of the curia/vicar general to coordinate the assignment of Masses. Canon law requires that Mass intentions be complete no later than one year after the death. If the gift cannot be completed within one year, the parish should contact the Office of the Legal Counsel for assistance.
