5.3 Safe Environment
Guidelines for Adults Interacting with Minors or Vulnerable Adults
Adults
acting in a staff, ministerial, or any other position in the archdiocese
are role models who are called to treat each minor and vulnerable adult with respect and
care. Staff need to maintain professional relationships with minors and vulnerable adults whether on or off parish or school locations. All staff who interact
with minors and vulnerable adults are required to review current guidelines and sign the Guidelines for Adults Interacting with Minors at Parish or Parish School Activities or Events for the file at the location where the adult works or volunteers.
All archdiocesan policies and procedures that have to be followed when dealing with minors and vulnerable adults are found in Safe Environment. Adherence to those policies and procedures is mandatory for all.
Safe Environment Training
All staff who are in regular contact with minors or vulnerable adults must complete the VIRTUS® Protecting God's Children training or an equivalent child sexual abuse
prevention training approved by the Office of the Vicar for Clergy and the Office of Safeguard the Children. For further information, see Fingerprinting Policies and Guidelines in Safe Environment.
