7.3.3 Preventive Maintenance
The facilities should be inspected at least yearly to determine the need for maintenance. The
Maintenance/Facilities Self-Assessmentchecklist must be used to assess the need for maintenance and repair of the facilities.
When purchasing, locations should ensure that products are sold by authorized dealers to ensure that the product is covered by the appropriate warranty. Caution: online vendors such as Amazon, Home Depot, Wayfair, Costco and similar "big box" stores may not themselves be authorized vendors for the products available on their sites. Check the information for the product to determine if the actual vendor is authorized by the manufacturer and is warranteed.
The location should check all structure, system, and equipment warranties and make sure that the warranty expiration dates are calendared and incorporated into the Maintenance/Facilities Self-Assessment checklist. Equipment and system warranties usually require maintenance by factory-authorized representatives. Maintenance by unauthorized personnel often voids warranties.
