When dealing with families that have been affected by divorce or separation, for the benefit of the children, SPBS and its employees remain a neutral party. For those families, SPBS will provide extra copies of school-wide communications if requested so both sets of parents may receive a copy, as well as other reasonable efforts to keep communication consistent between all parties. However, due to a limitation of space, as well as a desire to keep communication consistent, we will not provide separate parent-teacher conferences for those families, unless deemed appropriate from court orders. It is important to remember in all dealings though to come together as a single unit for the well-being of the child and their education.
If a restriction on visitation rights is in place, or if a child cannot be released to a parent or relative because of a legal custody agreement, a court order must be on file in the school office. SPBS will enforce only the most recent court order that is on file in the school office up to a point that is reasonably expected. Law enforcement may be called to assist the school administration in those matters.
