Standardized Testing
Standardized test results are only one indicator of the students' overall academic achievement. Teachers use standardized test results to identify students' relative academic strengths and weaknesses, design curriculum, and plan for instruction, and principals use the results to evaluate curriculum in order to set instructional priorities and plan appropriate professional development.
The principal and teachers will instruct parents/guardians on how to interpret their children's test scores and evaluate these in light of the overall school program.
The Department of Catholic Schools will analyze test scores to identify achievement trends and will assist principals and testing coordinators to analyze and use test scores to improve learning.
STAR Testing
Incarnation Parish School follows the Los Angeles Archdiocese Department of Catholic Schools (DCS) protocol for standardized testing. All students in grades TK-8 will take the STAR test at least three times a year during the testing window set forth by DCS. These tests are given to assess academic standing, determine the growth of each individual student, and plan for academic improvement.
Assessment of Catechesis/Religious Education (ACRE)
The Assessment of Catholic Religious Education (ACRE) is designed to assess the religious knowledge and outcomes of the school’s religion program. The assessments are administered annually to students in grades five (5) and eight (8). Individual results are not provided.
