Extended Absences

When, for family reasons, parents wish to take their children out of school temporarily, the principal and teacher will discuss with the parents the possible effects of such an absence. If a student is absent for an extended time, (e.g., 15 or more days), official grades may be withheld.

Note: In addition to the policy stated above, HRSJ has its own extended absence policy - If a student will be absent for an extended period of time, assignments can be completed upon the student’s return to school with prior approval from the Principal. The student is responsible for all missed class work/homework assignments during his/her absence. Requests for work should be made in advance and in writing directly to the teacher. Please allow ample time for the teacher to receive and respond to the request (may take up to 1 week).
