Closed Campus
To preserve the academic environment and school security, archdiocesan and parish schools are designated as closed campuses. No person may enter the campus unless authorized by the school administration. Visitors must present themselves at the school office if they need information or have business to conduct with the school.
Our elementary school operates under a closed campus policy to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff. This policy is designed to create a controlled environment where access to the school grounds is restricted during school hours. The key elements of the closed campus policy are as follows:
Restricted Access:
Students are not permitted to leave the school grounds during school hours unless accompanied by a parent, guardian, or authorized adult.
All visitors, including parents and guardians, must report to the school office upon arrival. They are required to sign in and obtain a visitor's badge before entering any part of the campus.
Arrival and Dismissal:
Students are to arrive at school no earlier than the designated start time and must leave promptly at the end of the school day unless participating in supervised after-school activities.
Parents and guardians must follow established procedures for dropping off and picking up students to ensure their safety and the smooth flow of traffic.
Authorized Exits:
If a student needs to leave during school hours for an appointment or other valid reason, a written request from the parent or guardian must be submitted to the school office in advance.
Students will only be released to individuals listed on their emergency contact form unless prior arrangements have been made with the school office.
Supervision:
Students are to remain within designated areas of the school grounds during recess, lunch, and other breaks. Staff members will provide supervision to ensure student safety.
Unauthorized areas of the campus are off-limits to students during school hours.
Emergencies and Drills:
In the event of an emergency, the school will follow established safety protocols to ensure the protection of all students and staff.
Regular drills (e.g., fire drills, lockdown drills) will be conducted to prepare students and staff for emergency situations.
Special Events:
During special events, such as assemblies or field trips, the school will implement additional measures to ensure student safety. Specific instructions will be provided to parents and students as needed.
Violation of Policy:
Any student found leaving the school grounds without authorization will be subject to disciplinary action.
Parents and guardians are expected to support and adhere to the closed campus policy to help maintain a safe and secure environment for all students.
The closed campus policy is essential for maintaining a secure learning environment. By restricting access and monitoring movement on campus, we can better protect our students and provide a safe space for their education and development.
