HOLISTIC DISCIPLINE APPROACH AT HOLY NAME OF MARY SCHOOL

Holy Name of Mary School emphasizes reconciliation and healing. Reflective practices, such as mediation sessions and prayer circles, are integrated into disciplinary processes to promote accountability and spiritual growth. Discipline in the Catholic school is considered an aspect of moral guidance and not a form of punishment. The purpose of discipline is to provide a school climate that is conducive to learning and promotes character development and the common good. Each school must publish its discipline policy in its parent/student handbook. Discipline is maintained in a classroom or school when students work cooperatively with the principal, the teachers, and their classmates towards class and school objectives. However, the legitimate interest of the school extends beyond the school day and school hours. IMPLEMENTATION AND REVIEW This discipline plan will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness. Feedback from teachers, school board, parents and students will be incorporated to align the plan with our Catholic mission and values. By upholding this discipline plan, Holy Name of Mary School will continue to cultivate an environment rooted in faith, respect, and lifelong learning for every student. COMMUNICATION AND PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT We believe in fostering a strong partnership between school and family. Parents will receive regular updates on their child’s behavior and progress. They will also play an active role in intervention strategies and plans to support their child’s success.
