Guidelines for Admission to Elementary Schools
- Preferences shall be given to active members of the Saint Gertrude the Great Parish
- Under Archdiocesan guidelines for financial considerations, the optimum number of students per classroom is 35.
- The required age for transitional kindergarten students is four years of age on or before September 1.
- The recommended age for kindergarten is 5 and for first grade students is 6 years of age on or before September 1, but required by November 1, unless waived by the principal
- All students must comply with current California immunization and health requirements prior to enrollment
- Saint Gertrude the Great parish school will strive to have Catholic education accessible to as many students as possible, both with its educational programs and financial considerations; however, it may have insufficient resources to meet the educational and financial needs of all students.
- New students are required to submit a current report card and standardized achievement test results. Students will be tested/screened before being admitted to the school. All students are admitted on a probationary basis. The principal reserves the right to determine if the students needs can be met through the schools current academic and behavioral support resources.
- The pastor and principal will review a students’ continued eligibility for enrollment in the parish school.
Student Requirements
- A Christian attitude and conformity to school regulations in all areas
- Completion of the basic grade level requirements and related assignments according to his/her ability
- Meets the school standards as set forth in the Parent/Student Handbook
