Eligibility

Extracurricular activities at Our Lady of Refuge are a privilege, not a right. In order to participate in extracurricular activities students must maintain a 2.0 GPA in all academic subjects and a “S” minimum in behavior in all subjects. Eligibility is in effect the day that report cards are issued. This stipulation also includes tournaments and special events. The Grade Point Average values for each grade are as follows:

  • A = 4.0
  • A- = 3.7
  • B+ = 3.3
  • B = 3.0
  • B- = 2.7
  • C+ = 2.3
  • C = 2.0
  • C- = 1.7
  • D = 1.0
  • F = 0
The inability to maintain the minimum standards for grades and behavior will result in ineligibility for all extracurricular activities. Students whose grades fall below the eligibility standards at the mid-term progress report date and/or at the trimester grade reporting date become ineligible until the next established progress check or longer if determined by the principal. The principal remains the final authority with regard to any dispute in eligibility.

A student must be present for the school day, or have verification of a medical, dental or legal appointment, in order to participate in an extra-curricular activity that takes place on that day (sports practice and/or game, dance, etc.).
