BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
St. Maria Goretti School was established in 1957 with a small but dedicated staff of five lay teachers and an enrollment of 276 students, ranging from grades 1 to 4. In 1958, the school welcomed three Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, who joined as full-time teachers, with one taking on the role of school administrator.
After 17 years of service, the Sisters of St. Joseph concluded their involvement with the school in June 1974. In the fall of that same year, the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine from Kentucky stepped in, taking on both teaching and administrative roles.
In 1987, after 13 years of stewardship, the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine withdrew, and St. Maria Goretti School has since been led by dedicated lay principals, continuing to grow and thrive as a pillar of the community.
