COSTS/FEES FOR BOOKS, SUPPLIES, FIELD TRIPS, EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Books
The school will provide the necessary textbooks and workbooks for the students. All books are to be covered in plain book covers. No books are to be written in or destroyed.
Replacement charges must be paid for lost or damaged books. Bindings and book covers are not to have drawings, stickers, pictures, etc. Teachers will take covers, binders, etc. which have writing or pictures on them. Students must replace with proper covers immediately.
Parents may be asked to purchase hard copies (not digital ebooks) of specific novels for their students. These novels will be used in class and annotated throughout the a literary unit. It is important that students have personal copies as they will be writing in them over their course of study; the hope is that these novels then will be added to their own personal libraries at home. Teachers will inform parents of any novel(s) that need to be purchased when the need arises.
Backpacks
Each child is allowed to bring a single backpack to school. Backpacks should be simple and appropriately sized for each student to wear comfortably on their backs. Backpacks should be labeled with the students name/initials and grade.
Backpacks on wheels will not be allowed in grades TK-2. Students in grades 3-8 may only have backpacks on wheels with a doctor's medical excuse filed in office. These roller backpacks bring significant storage and safety issues to our campus. Rolling backpacks will be stored outside classroom during school hours. Because of limited storage space, please purchase only smaller sized rolling backpacks.
The contents of the backpack are the responsibility of the student. Backpacks should not be used to store items that are not allowed at school, (ie. portable game players, toys from home, etc).
The school reserves the right to search student backpacks at any time.
Supplies
Each class is given a personal supply list yearly for their assigned grade. Students are to have these supplies at all times. Please do not send additional items not on the list. Supply lists can be found on the school website, www.catherineofsiena.org.
Please label all personal items of supplies and clothing including shirts, polo shirts, shorts, lunch boxes, etc.
Permanent markers (ie. Sharpies) and Correction fluid type products or correction tape (ie. White Out) are not permitted at school. They prevent a health and safety hazard to students.
Field Trips
Parents may be required to help cover some of the costs of the bus or entry fees incurred by a class field trip. The cost, if any, of these field trips will be communicated with parents prior to each individual trip.
