Qualifications of Candidates for Office:


 President and Vice President

  1. Needs to be in 8th Grade.

  2. Must have had at least one year’s experience in student leadership roles at SJW.

  3. Must have been an academic and/or servant leader first and second trimester in 7th grade. 

  4. No “NI’s” or “S’s” in Work Habits/Behavior in all classes, all year.


Secretary and Treasurer

  1. Needs to be in 7th or 8th Grade.

  2. “C” average (2.0) with no grade lower than a “C” all year.

  3. No “NI’s” or “S’s” in Work Habits/Behavior in all classes, all year.


Commissioners:

May be in 6th, 7th or 8th Grade.

  • “C” average (2.0) with no grade lower than a “C” all year.

  • No more than 3 “S’s” in all classes, all year will be allowed for the Commissioner Offices.

  • No “NI’s” in Work Habits and Behavior all year long.


Spirit Commissioner: 

  • Builds positive school spirit around campus and in the community

  • Announces weekly birthdays

  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

  • Lead: Spirit Committee - work with Publicity and Sports Commissioners to advertise and cheer at sports games, other school-sponsored events

  • Lead: Catholic Schools Week

Faith Commissioner:
  • Leads school daily in the Pledge to the Cross

  • Leads the God Squad in fun faith activities

  • Helps create monthly “family group” activities

  • Announces altar servers for daily Mass

  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

  • Lead: God Squad 

Sports Commissioner(Boys, Girls) :

  • Announces all practices and games.

  • Announces results of all games

  • Maintains Sport Board

  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

  • Lead: Sports Committee (works with Spirit Committee to advertise and cheer at games)

  • Lead: Basketball Tournament 

Publicity Commissioner:

  • Keep student body informed of events, fundraisers, and service projects

  • Documenting all events that SJW Student Council puts on, including but not limited to taking photographs and making scrapbooks.

  • Help collect pictures for yearbook

  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

  • Co-Lead: Spirit Committee with Spirit Commissioner to help publicize school sponsored events.

Sergeant-At-Arms: 

  • Begins school day with the raising of our flags.

  • Ends the school day with the lowering of the flags

  • Leads school in the Pledge of Allegiance

  • Responsible for leading the council and school in establishing and supporting the school in all activities.

  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

  • Lead: Safety Committee (help with cones, school clean-up, additional safety jobs around campus)

  • Lead: Catholic Schools Week

Technology Coordinator

  • Microphone set-up for announcements and Masses

  • In charge of Mass slideshow (with Faith Commissioner)

  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

  • Runs the Mass slideshows

School Family Coordinator
  • Student plans and leads monthly activities for our School Family groups to do after Friday's Masses.  

  • SJW Mini Olympics Planning Team Member and help with the family competitions.

  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

  • Lead: Monthly Faith Focus

​School​ Family Commissioner
  • Coordinates with Student Senate Commissioner on school events

  • Helps run social media in coordination with Publicity Commissioner

  • Helps video/photograph events




Acceptance of Office:

  • Election to these Offices is based on the assumption that the requirements will be met and maintained for the rest of the Third Trimester and reflected on the last report card.  If not met, the Office will be assumed by the candidate receiving the next highest number of votes in the election.

  • As a member of the Student Council, if you fail to meet or maintain the qualifications, you will be removed from the Student Council until your grades improve.
