Absences, tardiness and Truancy

  1. Absences: Regularity and punctuality are necessary for success in school. Every absence or tardy is a definite loss to the student, hinders and delays the progress of class, and imposes extra burdens on the teacher. Students are responsible for work missed because of absenteeism or tardiness. Arrangements must be made at the convenience of the teacher, upon return to make up the classwork. This is the sole responsibility of the student. Please see Grading Policy. If a child is absent from school, please notify the school office at (626) 337-1421 before 8:00 a.m. Upon returning to school after an absence, a written excuse or medical note stating the reason for the child’s absence must be presented to the teacher.
  2. Absences with an acceptable excuse: Excused absences include illness, medical or dental appointments, funeral services for family members, quarantine directed by city or county officials, or emergencies or special circumstances as determined by the school.
  3. Extended absences: Extended absences must be communicated to the Principal. If proper communication is not followed, school may withhold grades.
