Parents are primarily responsible for their child's appropriate and ethical use of technology in the home.  However, the misuse of social networking websites creates a situation that not only endangers young people and potentially damages the reputation of St. Martin of Tours School but also undermines the school's mission and philosophy.

St. Martin of Tours School does not actively monitor student use of the internet outside of school.  However, inappropriate use of technology off campus and outside of school hours may subject a student to disciplinary action up to and including suspension/expulsion.  Inappropriate use of technology includes harassment, use of the school's name, offensive remarks directed to or about teachers, administrators, staff and or students, and safety threats.  Students may not publish photos, videos, or audio on the internet obtained at St. Martin of Tours School or remote learning sessions.  If a student is found to have a social networking website that contains inappropriate material either of a personal nature or regarding St. Martin of Tours School, disciplinary action may result, up to and including suspension/expulsion.  Again, the fact that the school reserves the right to address off-campus misconduct related to communications shall not be construed to create any duty to address such misconduct, and the school in its sole discretion, may elect to refrain when asked to respond to misconduct that does not directly affect the school.
