For the safety of all students, all parents and other visitors must report to the school office prior to visiting any part of the school.  Visitors will be asked to sign in and wear a visitor's pass while they are in the school.

Parents are strongly discouraged from bringing lunches to school.  Parents may not bring forgotten homework, projects or P.E. uniforms to school.  Parents will NOT be permitted to bring these items to the student's classroom.  A student will not be called to the office to retrieve these items.  This policy is designed to encourage self-reliance and responsibility.

FIRE/ DISASTER / EARTHQUAKE PROCEDURES

Children are instructed in fire, earthquake and other disaster safety programs and have regular drills each month.  In the event of any emergency, children will be supervised at school until called for by a parent or family friend. Each of the classes is also outfitted with an emergency disaster kit. An EMERGENCY, EARTHQUAKE, DISASTER INFORMATION CARD for each family is located in the earthquake storage bin.  The emergency cards must be kept up to date.   In order to respond quickly and efficiently to your child's needs in an emergency we ask you to fill out the yellow emergency information card, and return them to the school office immediately.  If you wish, you may also include name, address and telephone number of an out of state contact in case of extreme emergency.

EVACUATION

Leading authorities about serious earthquake damage state that the safest place for us to stay after an earthquake is at school.  THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.  In all probability, power lines will be down, water and gas lines will be ruptured, roads and highways will be impassable, telephone communication won't be possible.  We are prepared to care for the children and have supplies at school such as food, water, and emergency supplies.

SUPERVISION

The administrators will maintain responsibility for the school community until each student has been officially released in writing to an adult named on the yellow emergency information card.  In the Principal's absence, another designated administrator will assume authority.

EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION

The automated text system will be used to contact parents and guardians in the case of an emergency i.e. the school is not open due to natural causes/disasters or parents need to pick up children in the event an evacuation is necessary.  Parents who opt out of the automated text system will most likely not be contacted immediately during an emergency and will not be given advanced notice of a school closure.

The school will also inform radio stations in the event of any emergency regarding school closure.  Please stay tuned to radio stations:
