Curriculum

Every effort should be made to assess and reflect community, parish, and other local needs in designing a developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum. Exploration, creative activity, and play are essential avenues of learning in the preschool classroom. Suggested areas of learning include readiness activities in:

  • Spirituality

  • Language development

  • Mathematics development

  • Motor development

  • Music

  • Arts and crafts

  • Socialization and play

There are many references and resources available to assist schools in determining local needs and designing curriculum for the preschool classroom. The assistant regional superintendents in the Department of Catholic Schools are available to provide guidance.
