General Guidelines

  • All field trips require preparation, follow-up, and specific educational goals for students.  Trips must have prior approval from the principal.

  • In order to participate, students must have a Student and Youth Activity Permission Form and Emergency Medical Authorizations signed and dated from parents. All Permission and Authorization Forms must be in the possession of the supervising adult during the trip. Permission forms are provided by the teacher.

  • Field trips are privileges afforded to students. Students may be denied participation if they fail to meet academic or behavioral requirements in class on a regular basis.

  • Teachers will carry an emergency backpack with a first aid kit and student emergency information.  The teacher will have a cell phone to be used as needed.

Field Trip Drivers & Chaperones

  • All archdiocesan policies on a safe environment must be followed.  Volunteers must each:

  • Field trips drivers must also have the following items on file in the school office:

    • Signed Driver Insurance Liability Form, updated with current license, vehicle, and insurance

    • Copy of current driver’s license

    • Proof of insurance for the vehicle being used on the trip (including proof that the driver is covered under the insurance if vehicle is owned by another person)

  • If the teacher has asked you to accompany the class as a chaperone you need to be there as a supervisorNon-school age children are not allowed on field trips.  Only students from that class may attend the trip.

  • Volunteers who agree to drive for a school field trip will be assigned multiple students to transport.  The school will not approve drivers to only take one child, even if it is their own.

  • Drivers must sign up and be cleared in advance of any trips.  Due to the required paperwork, drivers must be cleared at least 48 hours prior to the trip.  No same day changes will be made except in an emergency.

  • Field trip drivers are not allowed to stop at any other destinations going to or coming from the actual field trip destinations. (e.g. to get students sodas on a hot day)

  • Only G-Rated movies may be viewed on car DVD Players or on electronic devices.  Music must also use school-appropriate language and content.

  • Chaperones or supervising adults driving minors must be at least 25 years old. Non-driving chaperones or supervising adults must be at least 21 years old.​
