In so far as possible, the administration and staff of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School seek to measure total student performance in: class work, homework, evaluative testing performance, class participation, and where appropriate, work on special projects. Therefore, written grades will be given to keep students and parents aware of performance.

Students in Kindergarten are graded as follows:
M = Meets grade level expectations   A = Approaching grade level expectations   B = Below grade level expectations

Students in grades one through three are graded as follows:

O= Outstanding     G= Good     S = Satisfactory     N I =  Needs Improvement
Students in grades four through eight are graded by a percentage scale (according to Archdiocesan standards). The correlation between letter grades and percentages are as follows:

A: 100%-95%        A-: 94%-93%    B+: 92% -90%      B: 89%-87%      B- :86%-85%
C+: 84% - 80%     C: 79%-75%      C-: 74%-70%      D: 69% - 65%     F: 64% and below

A student with an F average (grades 4 ‑  8) or a N I average (K‑ 3) in one core subject for the year may be retained or required to withdraw from Our Lady of Mount Carmel School.
