When a student is absent for non-school sponsored reasons, the student must submit a written excuse signed by a parent/guardian and the school must keep excuses on file for one year.

Excused absences include illness, medical or dental appointments, funeral services for family members, quarantine directed by city or county officials, or emergencies or special circumstances as determined by the school.

STUDENT APPOINTMENTS DURING SCHOOL

Medical and dental appointments during school hours are discouraged; however, if it is unavoidable, please send a note with your child so the teacher is aware that the student will be leaving early. The absence will be marked excused only if a dated slip is brought or faxed from the medical or dental office, within 24 hours.  Any student signed out for a medical appointment and then absent from school for more than thirty minutes will be marked as a Half Day Absence.

If a student must leave the school grounds during the school day for an appointment, please go to the school office. Children are dismissed from the Office onlyPlease come to the school office to sign out your child and he/she will be notified by the secretary. No child will be released to any person whose name is not on the Emergency Card. Photo identification may be required by the school prior to release.
