Attendance

School attendance matters. It is arguably one of the most important indicators of school success. You cannot learn what you are not there to learn. Students who attend school regularly improve their chances of being academically successful.

The school day begins with the 7:30 am bell that rings each morning to signal that the playground is open. Please make sure that at least one of the 3 teachers/supervisors is at the designated post prior to leaving your child. The children should wait in their designated area (Morning Prayer line). A bell at 7:43 am signals to gather for prayer and pledge. Students should be in line before 7:43 am. The bell at 7:45 am signals the start of the school day. Teachers have been instructed to take attendance (outside) once the 7:45 am bell has rung. Students who are still exiting cars and/or walking towards the line will be considered tardy.

Absences

The principal and teachers are responsible for checking the regular attendance of all students.  Every absence must be recorded on the Schoolspeak attendance register.

Any student's absence, for whatever reason, must be reported by phone or email to the school office by 8:30 AM.  The school has a 24-hour voice message center for the parents' convenience.  Parents may also choose to email their student's teacher(s) with a copy to the school office concerning their student's absence.

If a student is ill or running a fever before the beginning of the school day, the student needs to remain home.  If a student is running a fever, they are not permitted to return to school for a full 24 hours and are fever free without medication.  If a child comes to the office with a fever, the parent or guardian will be notified immediately to pick them up from school.

NOTE:  An absence because of film, television, or modeling work is not an excused absence, per guidelines from the Los Angeles Archdiocese, Department of Catholic Schools.
