DELINQUENT TUITION
Bishop Alemany High School is a tuition-based, private Catholic school. We acknowledge, admire and appreciate the sacrifices our families make to provide their children with an excellent, high-quality Catholic education. In order to maintain the financial integrity of our institution and uphold the standards of academic excellence, we adhere to the following delinquent tuition policy:
30 Days Past Due: Accounts over 30 days past due are no longer in good standing and the status is in Default.
- At 30 days of delinquency, a notification will be sent to the responsible party via phone call, email, or postal mail.
- It is critical that a family responds and properly communicates with the school to address past due accounts. If there is no response, the student can be asked to stay home and be suspended from school until the family communicates and the account is brought current.
60 Days Past Due: Accounts over 60 days past due are in Critical Default.
- After 60 days of delinquency, the family will again be contacted to stress the urgency of the overdue balance. We expect the account to be addressed and brought current.
- For all accounts in Critical Default, enrollment at the school is in critical danger of being impacted. The school reserves the right to have the student remain at home and face suspension from school until the parent(s) or guardian(s) settle the account.
- Additionally, the school reserves the right to withhold participation in co-curricular activities, including but not limited to sporting events, dances, competitions, and other activities, until all financial obligations are resolved.
- If tuition payments become over 60 days delinquent, all monies received must first be applied to tuition to bring the account current. The Business Office will notify coaches or staff when payments for extracurricular activities are reallocated towards outstanding tuition.
90 Days Past Due: After 90 days of delinquency, family and student accounts are ON HOLD and the following steps may be implemented:
- Students may not attend school or engage in any school activities.
- Students may be required to withdraw from the school.
- Academic records, including transcripts and diplomas, may be placed on hold, preventing enrollment until the outstanding balance is resolved. Students will not be able to attend Graduation services and other important school events. Diplomas will be on hold and will not be provided unless the account is current – this can be problematic now or years from now if ever a need to contact the school for proof of the diploma.
- Access to campus facilities and services will be on hold until payment is made.
- Families awarded financial aid must consult their acceptance letter for details on how delinquent tuition can impact any current financial awards and be revoked.
Frequently Asked Questions about Tuition
How do I change my banking information?
It is important to note that FACTS Management Company and Bishop Alemany High School never see your bank account nor have any direct access to your account. FACTS complies with State and Federal laws to be completely confidential and limited to what has been authorized by the parents/guardians to control the automatic payment process. All banking changes should be called directly to FACTS at (800) 624-7092 or log into your FACTS Payment Agreement.
Can I pay my tuition with a credit card?
FACTS accepts the following credit cards: American Express, Discover and MasterCard. If you choose to pay tuition through your credit card, you will be charged 2.95% per payment.
When and what time will the funds be withdrawn from my bank account?
While FACTS transacts each payment on the specified date, it is your financial institution that determines the time of day the payment is debited. FACTS recommends checking with your financial institution to determine how far in advance funds should be deposited into your account to ensure the automatic payment clears. If a payment date falls on a weekend or banking holiday, the payment will be transacted the following business day. A late fee of 30.00 will be assessed by FACTS if any payment is not received within your established payment due date.
How will I be notified of my payment information?
Once your Payment Agreement for budgeted tuition payments is posted to the FACTS system, you track your account information by logging into your FACTS account.
What happens if FACTS attempts to process my payment and there are not sufficient funds in my account?
Should an automatic bank payment be returned, a $25.00 FACTS Returned Payment Fee will be automatically assessed to your account. This is in addition to any missed payment fee that the school may assess. You will be notified by FACTS of the returned payment via mail or email. For payments scheduled for the 5th of the month, the reattempt will occur on the 20th of the month.
NOTE: FACTS will attempt a payment three (3) times. If a payment is returned a third time, it will become unresolved, and FACTS will no longer attempt to collect that payment. In this case, the payment must be made in person at the on-campus Business Office immediately.
What about enrollment in the FACTS payment plan in future years?
The FACTS payment plan enables the school to automatically re-enroll families in payment plans over successive years, saving time for both the school office and your family. Should your tuition payments be made through FACTS the following year, you would be notified in advance by the school.
Can I pay down my tuition?
If you would like to make an initial downpayment so that your monthly payments will be smaller, please make your downpayment check payable to Bishop Alemany High School and bring the downpayment to the Tuition Office or log into your Agreement and pay online.
What do I do if I am experiencing financial challenges in making tuition payments?
The reality is that Bishop Alemany High School is a private, tuition-based school and we do require your tuition payments to attend. We do understand that families do sometimes experience financial difficulties. If so, it is crucial to reach out to our Tuition Office to discuss, get information, and bring the account current. For assistance, please email tuition@alemany.org.
